History of the Cellar
"The Tenuta di Saragano, owned by the same Pongelli Benedettoni family since the 13th century, is located in an area that extends over slopes of hills of silvery olive trees, hills covered with green woods invaded by sunny fields with solitary oaks. The estate includes expertly restored stone farmhouses, a medieval tower, now the owners' residence, and a lake nestled in an enchanting landscape between gullies and pine forests. The company, with organic certification and ethics, also has land intended for grazing Chianina cattle and converted tall woods, ideal for trekking and contemplating the landscape. Our products come from a respected and loved land, with DOC and DOCG vineyards in the Sagrantino area, arable land with high quality cereal and legume production and olive groves with Frantoiano, Moraiolo, Leccino cultivars, collected in an area of 18 hectares with approximately 5000 olive trees with latest generation mechanical harvesting. Our products are strictly organic. For us, in fact, organic farming is not only a production method that respects human health and the environment, but also a model of sustainable development that enhances the quality of resources and local communities, helping them to face global competition."
