The Signature Collection is an experience designed for enthusiasts and experts seeking a deeper understanding of the varietal nuances of the vines grown in Umbria.
A unique itinerary during which you will be welcomed in our Enoteca Monte della Torre by our Wine Educator and you will have the opportunity to take a wine-tasting tour of the Signature Collection line, created with the integral vinification technique in collaboration with the internationally renowned French winemaker Michel Rolland. The discovery of the barrel cellar will be accompanied by a tasting of the two labels “Malcompare Umbria Pinot Nero IGT” and “Belcompare Umbria Merlot IGT”, expressions of Arnaldo Caprai’s constant drive towards experimentation and innovation. The reserved access located in the barrel cellar will take you back to the suggestive rooms of the Enoteca Monte della Torre where you can taste our wines comfortably seated in complete privacy. The current vintage and the 2013 vintage of each of our Sagrantinos will be served at the same time, allowing you to enjoy the opportunity to savor it as it is born and how it evolves over time, unleashing its aptitude for aging. Each wine will be
accompanied by a refined combination of Umbrian gastronomy.
History of the Cellar
Cantina Arnaldo Caprai is one of the most important and prestigious wineries in Umbria, particularly known for the production of high-quality wines, with a focus on Sagrantino di Montefalco, an indigenous grape variety that has found true consecration thanks to the work of the Caprai family. Founded in the 1970s by Arnaldo Caprai, the company initially operated as a more traditional business, but in the 1990s, under the guidance of his son Marco Caprai, the company undertook a radical renewal, aiming for quality and innovation. Marco Caprai was instrumental in relaunching Sagrantino, which is now one of the most recognized and appreciated wines internationally. The winery is located in the municipality of Montefalco, the heart of the Umbrian wine-growing area, famous for its Sagrantino. The Montefalco area enjoys an ideal microclimate for viticulture, with calcareous and clayey soils that contribute to producing wines rich in structure, complexity and longevity. Cantina Arnaldo Caprai stands out for its adoption of modern techniques and a strong focus on sustainability. The company philosophy focuses on innovation, the pursuit of quality and respect for the territory. The winery uses advanced winemaking methods, without ever forgetting tradition, particularly with regard to the winemaking of Sagrantino.
