History of the cellar

Cantina Domenico Russo is a family-run business that combines a passion for viticulture, respect for nature and the ambition to produce top-quality wines. Founded in 1998 in the countryside of Ginosa, near Taranto and just 22 km from Matera, this idyllic setting is blessed with moderate temperatures, hilly topography and proximity to the Ionian Sea. Greenery envelops the property, where olive trees and an organic espalier vineyard grow in perfect tranquility.

Every stage of winemaking, from grape growing to bottling, is personally followed by the Russo family. Owner Domenico Russo was driven by a deep love for the land and its traditions, pursuing the production of native wines and expanding his business with the acquisition of hillside sites in Bove Cesine. The original cellar, transformed into a showroom, has been joined by a modern cellar, complete with cutting-edge equipment for grape processing and bottling. Beyond the impressive investments in technology and infrastructure, the company's true strength is its commitment to producing only the highest quality wines.

The wines produced by the Domenico Russo Winery are the pure Primitivo, the Primitivo del Salento IGP, the Primitivo Passito, the Malvasia Bianca, the Sangiovese di Puglia and the Spumante IGP Salento.
